Easters Eggcellent HAF

Easter holidays, we ran our ever-popular, oversubscribed HAF holiday club. From the 7th April to 10th April we ran an action-packed programme of activities for almost 80 children at the wonderful space in Suffolks Primary School. The children enjoyed dancing like superheroes; making easter themed arts; assault courses outside; drama and communication games as well as some other exciting visitors who provided workshops on: crocheting, gardening in the orchard, engineering and coding with Cringe Tech and a special visit from Mimi the therapy dog! As always, the food cooked by Aunty P and her wonderful team of chefs, provided the kids with a range of delicious, nutritious lunches to keep them fueled and happy for the rest of the day!

Reading Heroes Wellbeing Day

Many of us have grown up reading stories with family and learning to delight in the adventures held in the pages of books. Sadly, for many children this isn’t a reality they experience. Reading is a fundamental skill that helps us discover the world, develop imagination, improve communication and reduce stress. This term we piloted a new programme called Reading Heroes with Suffolks Primary School. Volunteers gave just 2 hours a week to go in and enjoy reading with children identified by the school. This term we are looking to expand into more schools to bring a joy for reading and the self confidence that brings to more children in other schools we partner with. Would you be interested in joining this project as a volunteer?

Moment of Calm 2025

We are delighted to report on another fantastic few weeks delivering our highly successful and fast expanding ‘A Moment of Calm’ project to twenty four Primary schools across the borough of Enfield. Thank you to all the schools that welcomed us through their doors and supported the delivery of our workshops to the year 6 classes.

The feedback from the workshops was overwhelmingly positive with children reporting that they felt ‘calmer and relaxed’ and teachers appreciating the experience, “That was so nice and helpful, thank you. We have to teach them so many things and we hardly ever get a chance to just stop together and take a moment to calm. The things we have learned through this booklet today are just as important as what they are learning for their SATS.”

We look forward to hearing how the booklets have been used in the run up to the end of year 6 and we wish all the staff and children the very best of luck in the SATs and beyond!

We’re off to Buckingham Palace

Unfortunately we’re not all going! Tony and Jude have been invited to attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate and recognise those working in Education and Skills.

Look out for photos and a full review of the sandwiches in next term’s newsletter!

Isaac Deng Meet Isaac

Isaac, originally from South Sudan, has been volunteering with Success Club since August last year. In that time he has volunteered more than 100 hours supporting our HAF schemes, Wellbeing Days, and Fit4Growth sessions. He is passionate about training and mentoring young people through sports and has recently successfully completed his Level 1 Assist / Coach qualification with the Amateur Boxing Alliance. He brings a wealth of life experience and calmly connects with students, giving them space to discover more of themselves.

Spring Mindful Moment

Spring is a season of renewal, when nature reawakens and reminds us to do the same. As flowers bloom and days grow longer, we’re invited to clear out old habits and welcome fresh, vibrant thoughts. This is the perfect moment to pause, breathe and realign with what truly matters. Let each new bud and birdsong be a gentle nudge to approach life with curiosity, hope and kindness. Embrace the energy of growth, both around you and within. Being present and open allows new attitudes to take root and flourish, nurturing a more mindful and joyful way of living.
